Shane Warne Wins Sports Personality Of The Year Award

The sports personality of the year award given away by the BBC went to ace spinner Shane Warne for ‘05. He will be presented with the award on Sunday by Richie Benaud, the acclaimed comentator. His choosing has come about because of his forty wicket haul in the legendary Ashes Series against England. The team from Australia lost the Ashes this year. He said that he was honoured by the award.
In the competition for the prize was Formula One Veteran Alonso, Champion Cycler Lance Armstrong and Roger Federer. The Editor of the TV programme commented on the subject saying that Shane Warne was always on the top of the game. His share of the game's present greatness has always been exciting. He was the biggest attractor in the Ashes Series. To add his sporting excellence he has a natural charm that makes him an equally good player of the field too. He is the right choice for this award.
