The new boss of Manchester United assured the fans that he will not change the collective selling of television rights after taking over the premier league club. There was a fear that the American billionaire would sell the rights to air the clubs games separately to make more money. The club’s owners said that the existing television rights would remain.
The new directors of the club met with the Sports Minister and several football association members and officials of the league. According to the tycoon the press has written enough about the truth of the game in the past 18 months. Several football pundits and fans unions expect to see the dawn of American styling of the game with unaffordable ticketing.
He currently owns 98 per cent of the clubs shares but plans to acquire the remaining two per cent. A rally was staged by protestors and effigies were burnt after news flashed that the new director gained 75 per cent of the clubs shares. The sports tycoon then, a week later, took his share in the world's richest soccer club to 98 percent, which automatically gives him the right to buy up the remaining two percent.
