The MCA(Motor Sports Association) was all kudos for Andy Priaulx, the most recent winner of the World Touring Car Championship, after he raced a spectacular race in the season finale round in Macau. He managed to keep away the destruction around him. Two of his fellow racers had crashed before they could finish the race. He ended the tour with two races in second place and the title to add to his World Touring Champion title.
This win for Andy puts him on the present list of previous FIA world Champions which include the names of Fernando Alonso and Sebastien Loeb. It is a huge boost to UK motorsport. He is the pride of the motorsporting people of the UK at present. The president of the MCA applauded his efforts and called it a boost to the motorsporting race. It came at a time when motorsport fans from the UK were doing well with
Dan Wheldon winning the Indianapolis 500 and the IndyCar Series Crown and Gary Paffett winning the German DTM title. To add to this Lewis Hamilton came out on the top in the Formula 3 Series. That these people who are ruling the world of motor sport are from the UK is the pride of the nation.
Andys rise to the top started a decade ago with the MSA British Hill Climb Championship. He won all the ten rounds and set eight fresh records in the process winning the title. That was followed up by a similar performance in 1999. He went on to win the Formula 3 Championship and BTCC. He next got into the international scene with the BMW international team.
