English Cricketer Andrew Flintoff has another feather in his hat; as the winner of the Sportsmen of the Year Award. He was chosen to receive the prestigious award by the UK's top sports writers and photographers. He was the key to the cricketing win this year over the team from Down Under in the Ashes Series.
The BBC have also presented him with another award. He was the favourite all along. Next in line were Michael Vaughan, the Captain and also the football team Captain, Steven Gerrard. The team of the year was the English Cricket Team. Paula Radcliffe was given the Award for Sportsperson of the Year. She won because of her marathon win at the World Championships.
The Best International Newcomer was Andy Murray, an eighteen year old, and the main award was given to Ellen MacArthur. Zara Phillips won the award for Outstanding Achievement. Dave Brailsford was given the award for Special Contribution to sport. He is a cycling coach. The prize in the disabled sports category went to Sally Woods.
