Gerrard to stay at Anfield

Written by JDPGlobal | Thursday, 07 July 2005

Steven Gerrard, Liverpool’s captain is going to stay at Liverpool with a reported salary of £100,000 a week. Only a few days ago the media speculated that he was going to leave Anfield after his agent apparently confirmed that the deal had broken down and were unlikely to start again.

Gerrard had just over twenty months in his existing deal and was expected to sign another extension. Originally it appeared that Gerrard would be sold for as much as £30m before Liverpool opened their defence of the Champions League crown with a qualifier against Welsh side TNS on 13th July. The likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid, were the two favourites to land the England star.
