Disaster contingency plans to be reformed

Everyone has their own take on a situation. After the recent tube bombings in the UK capital, the city's transport network was closed for over a day in London. Specialised analysts in the IT area took to the ideas that some organizations would need to consider the possibility of loss of their technical infrastructures, when putting together their disaster contingency plans.
As we saw during those days, employees were prevented from reaching work and as such, this would need to be taken into account for loss of business and other technical issues that come with this prevention. For businesses to continue their daily work tasks in circumstances like these would be resultant of how well the communication and IT services were developed to remote (home) operations.
The suggestions that were made for companies to include in their Disaster Contingency Plans were:
o Make sure that you know who the key employees are that would need access and ensure that they have some kind of remote access to any of the vital systems..
o Set up VPN (Virtual Private Networks) for computer access to include teleconferencing to call forwarding if necessary.
o Laptops must be taken home after work so that in case of emergency each and every necessary employee has access to systems.
