New Zealand Goes Poker Crazy

Written by JDPGlobal | Tuesday, 29 November 2005

People in New Zealand have got their very own poker joint. Setup in the illustrious Sky City, the place will now allow poker lovers to come and play the game the way it is played on Texas Hold’em. This sudden popularity could be instigated by the huge win a couple of Australians had recently and the massive boom in online poker rooms.

The demand is immense adding to the fact that it was the preferred choice of game by customer choice. The game has made it way to New Zealand via the UK and the US. The recent boom in the poker industry could also be a result of two major wins, one by Joseph Hachem, a national, who won seven and a half million dollars and the other by James Dia who one million dollars.

Sky City has plans of expanding this to other places with Hamilton and Queenstown on their priority list.
