Poker is turning out to be such a world wide phenomenon that it is now altering the way in which casinos are being run. It has also pushed hard on many locations to add poker as a gaming option to keep pace with need.
Jupiters Casino and Treasury Casino in Brisbane are the latest Australian casinos to move into the act. Top poker sites like Melbourne's Crown Casino and Sydney's Star City that are controlled by Tabcorp find themselves in an interesting position. The demand for poker has been so emphatic that they are forced to look for a new poker friendly site. The manager of gaming operations in a casino said that the growing popularity of the game around the world cannot be ignored. He also added that though it does not bring in as much revenue as expected, it is important to draw people in.
There is a word doing rounds that the decision of Jupiter to move into poker is highly influenced by the Crown Casino's recent tournament announcement. The unnamed tournament is supposed to feature 500 players and also offers a prize pool of $10 million. Poker players seem to be dying for action and it seems they will have to wait for two to three months. Meanwhile, Jupiters is awaiting the approval of the Office of Gaming and readying itself for play.
