Written by JDPGlobal | Tuesday, 31 January 2006

The world’s largest advertisement lighting board has been set up by China. It equals the size of a football field in the city of Guangzhou, as per the state media. The soft drink lighting board was turned on at the Citic Plaza, which is a landmark of Guangzhou. It’s the capital of Guangdong province.

The board will give colour to the city in the spring festival, according to a China news service.  A grand ceremony was held by Pepsi to celebrate the occasion.  The board is on the 88 storey Citic Plaza building. The lighting board is about 100 metres in height and its spread is 7, 000 square metres. It is equal to a 44 storey building in height and is almost equal to the size of a football field.  It is made up of 27,000 metres of light tubes.

The news report said that the concerned parties have gone to the Guinness World Records authority with an application to get into the record book.
