Believe it or not: China is the venue for World trade talks

While world leaders will controversially assemble in China for trade talks, the main eye is on the farming trade, which appears to be the number one issue to be brought up at the World Trade Organization (WTO) talks in Hong Kong which will occur in December of this year.
The main hope is to break the deadlock that is held on agriculture tariffs through the talks that will be held under tight security. These talks are to include the key players like US, the EU and China aswell as the G20 developing countries group and also Australia.
Round the table
The problem is that these talks actually commenced in 2001 in Doha and at that point they were dubbed the Doha Development Round, in order to place the needs of those developing countries at the forefront of worldwide trade negotiations. However these talks are still going on and nothing seems to have changed. Even at the recent G8 meeting, which was attacked and slandered for its debt reconciliation terms, the conclusion was an undated promise. Both the US and the EU stated that the debts would be eliminated, although conveniently no date was actually set. Britain and China, however are standing up for this debt to be finally eliminated in the year 2010.
We will believe it when we see it.
